What type of leather do you use?

We use premium full-grain, vegetable-tanned Hermann Oak leather — one of the most respected American tanneries in the industry and a longtime standard in traditional holster, saddle, and belt making. Because it's true full-grain leather, it retains the natural strength and character of the hide instead of being sanded down or heavily corrected. It molds well, holds its shape, breaks in naturally, and develops a rich patina over time. We pair it with heavy-duty bonded nylon thread and build our products to be used, carried, and passed down — not replaced every few years.

No. We mold to dummy guns that exactly match your make, model, and barrel length — tell us in the order notes and we'll handle it. If you own an unusual or custom build, reach out and we'll confirm fit before starting work.

How do I measure for a custom leather belt?

Accepted Answer

For the most accurate fit, measure a belt you already wear regularly — not your pants size. Lay the belt flat and measure from (A) the end of the leather at the buckle fold (do not include the buckle) to (B) the hole you currently use most often. That measurement is your belt size. Because carry position, holsters, and everyday wear can affect fit, this method gives us the most accurate sizing for a custom-built belt. We build our belts to the exact size you provide.

What's the return policy on custom leather goods?

Every piece we build is handcrafted and backed by our lifetime workmanship guarantee. We take a lot of pride in what leaves our shop. Because many of our products are built to order, custom items are non-returnable and non-exchangeable once production has started — this includes personalized items, non-standard firearm fits, special requests, and customer-specific configurations. For non-custom items, we accept returns within 30 days of purchase as long as the item is unused and in new condition; customers are responsible for return shipping, and a 20% restocking fee applies. If we made a mistake or there's a verified workmanship issue, we'll take care of it — that's on us. How do I break in a new leather holster?

New molded leather holsters are tight on purpose — the snug fit is what gives you secure retention. Wear it daily for 2–3 weeks and the fit will settle. If it's still too tight, insert your firearm wrapped in 2 layers of plastic wrap and let it sit overnight to expand the leather slightly.

How often should I condition my leather holster or belt?

For most everyday use, conditioning every 3–6 months is plenty. Over-conditioning can soften the leather and reduce retention on molded holsters. For our Hermann Oak leather products, we recommend using Fiebing's Tan Kote in light applications to help maintain the finish and protect the leather without oversoftening it. Apply a thin coat with a soft cloth and buff lightly if needed. Less is more when it comes to leather care.

How do I clean dirt or salt off my leather holster?

Wipe with a damp (not wet) cloth to remove surface dirt. For salt stains or sweat residue, mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar into a cup of distilled water, dampen a cloth, and wipe. Let air-dry away from direct heat, then condition lightly.

Can I get my leather holster wet?

Occasional rain is fine — let it air-dry at room temperature, never near a heat source. If it's fully soaked, stuff it with newspaper to hold the shape and let it dry for 48 hours before conditioning. Repeated heavy soaking will break down the leather over time.

How do I store my leather goods long-term?

Store in a cool, dry place — not in a safe with desiccant (too dry), not in a basement (too humid). Ideal humidity is 40–50%. Keep firearms out of holsters during long-term storage so the leather keeps its shape without compression.
