Leather Forend Straps & Grip Wraps for the Mossberg Shockwave & Remington TAC-14

Why these firearms want a strap

The Mossberg 590 Shockwave and the Remington 870 TAC-14 are compact, pump-action "firearms" built around a bird's-head grip and a corn-cob or M-LOK forend. They're a blast to shoot — and a genuine handful to hold onto, especially since keeping your support hand controlled and clear of the muzzle matters a great deal on a short platform. A leather forend strap or grip wrap gives your hand something to anchor against and adds the kind of looks these guns deserve.

Strap vs. grip wrap

  • Forend strap — a hand strap that mounts to the forend, giving your support hand a secure anchor and helping keep it behind the muzzle.
  • Grip wrap — full-grain leather laced around the corn-cob forend (or the grip) for purchase and protection, often with a decorative stamp like a "Come and Take It" or Spartan motif.

We build both for the Mossberg 590 Shockwave and Remington TAC-14, and our corn-cob wraps also fit the Mossberg 500/590 and the 990 Aftershock platform.

Fit to the platform, not "close enough"

A forend wrap only works if it's cut to the specific forend. The corn-cob forend on a Shockwave is a different diameter and rib pattern than a standard pump forend, so we pattern our wraps to the platform you tell us you have. Full-grain Hermann Oak leather holds the wrapped shape, takes a stamp cleanly, and grips better as it breaks in — the opposite of a slick synthetic sleeve.

Upgrade options

Most of these can be ordered in genuine water buffalo for extra texture and durability, or with exotic inlays if you want the gun to stand out. Decorative stamps and finish are your call. Reach out with your exact model — Shockwave, TAC-14, 500/590, 990 Aftershock — and we'll confirm the right wrap before you order. See the Shockwave & forend lineup.
